AIX Tip of the Week

What's New in TCP/IP

Audience: All

Date: November 10, 2001

The netcompare.pdf file lists new AIX TCP/IP enhancements that increase availability and bandwidth. Of particular interest are the Etherchannel(R) and Network Interface Backup functions.

EtherChannel increases bandwidth by aggregating 2-4 Ethernet adapters as one IP/Mac address (Requires router that supports EtherChannel).

The Network Interface Backup option was described in a previous Configuring Network Adapters for Redundancy AIX Tip. It increases network availability by providing a hot-backup network adapter.

These options and more are illustrated in the hotnew.pdf presentation.
