(2) Go through the door that the switch opened. This will take you to a "computer maze". (3) On the WEST side of the maze, the light will be different from the rest of the maze (slowly going dark and light). You will find a green armour. Shoot (or punch) the wall right behind the green armour. (4) Follow the passage which was opened. (5) Activate the red button in the large room. How to wake up baddies without wasting bullets - press 1 then fire How to go to the secret military base ===================================== ******************************************************************************** * * * If you have version 1.0 (not me), you can run the supplied demo which * * shows you how to get to the military base. (still in the zip file) * * * * To play this demo, type this: * * * * doom -playdemo level3 * * * ******************************************************************************** Otherwise, do this: MISSION 1, LEVEL 3: At the start, you see a "swimming pool" of green goo. You need to get to the other side. Firstly shoot all the baddies in sight. Blow up all the bins. Now go to the LEFT door, open it. Stay at the door and kill all the baddies as they approach. When done, enter the door and turn right, go a short way until you see a switch through a window, together with some imps. Kill some imps. Go a little further, go down the stairs to your left, clean out this area and operate the switch. Now go back up the stairs, turn right and you will see a new staircase. This leads to a "computer maze" which is where all the action will occur. Firstly, kill all the monsters and blow up all the bins. GET THE YELLOW CARD. Now go down the staircase, as you do, you will hear what sounds like a door. Go to the bottom of the stairs, and wait until you hear the sound again (about 5 secs). Now rush up the stairs at top speed, you will hear the sound again, veer to the left and go to the last panel. You will see that the concrete has dropped to floor level. Jump onto the concrete, it will raise up, and the panel will open. Go down the stairs, kill the imps and press the button. The blue orb will come down to floor level. Get it. Rush up the stairs at top speed. The concrete will obligingly drop as you approach - as will another one in the distance. Rush over to it, jump onto it, it will raise up, and a secret passage will be created. Follow this to a secret area. Kill the monsters and get all the goodies. Now follow the green river to a small landing. Get the backpack - this lets you double how much ammo you can carry. Operate the switch - this creates a bridge over the "swimming pool". Next to the switch is a secret door. Open it, follow it, get the goodies, and you will soon be on familiar ground. Go up the stairs, turn left, and operate a secret window on your right. You will see men in a secret area. Fortunately they will start killing each other. Leave them to it, continue to the door and complete all the area beyond. When you get back, with the blue card, go to the blue door and complete that area. DON'T USE THE EXIT. Now come back to the swimming pool and cross the bridge, a secret passage will open up, and you will see all the dead soldiers that you could see through the window earlier. Kill any remaining monsters. Approach the back wall and it will open, kill the monsters there as well. A passage leads from this white area to the exit room. Press the LEFT wall and you can get to the imp that fires on you from high up. Kill him, get the ammo, come back down and use the exit. SECRET LEVEL IN MISSION 2: You must be on the level called Command Centre. From the start, open the door, come out, follow the wall on your right to the top of the stairs. Open the door that you see at your right. Follow this passage downward to the end. Open door turn right. Open the next door on your right, kill the demons, operate the switch. Come out, turn right, turn right, go up stairs and into the red stuff. You will be teleported to a dark room full of lost souls (flying skulls). Turn around, open the door, walk into the white teleport. You will now be in a room with EXIT at the other end. Go to it, open door, operate switch. The next level will be Fortress of Mystery. FORTRESS OF MYSTERY: Easy level, hard monsters. Look at each dead-end for a door. Enter it, walk straight across the room, open secret door that looks like part of the wall. Then get each key and you're done. MISSION 3, LEVEL ?: You enter a room with 2 pillars, each having 4 skull-switches on them. Behind the pillars are 4 doors, 2 behind each. On each pillar, press the FRONT then the LEFT switches. This will open all the doors. SECRET LEVEL IN MISSION 4, LEVEL 2: I don't know the official way to get to it, but if you turn no-clipping on, go to the lava in the separate room. Look for the staircase upwards. Just after you climb a couple of stairs, turn right, and walk through a wall into a tiny room with a red EXIT sign. Operate the lions-head switch. This takes you to a secret level called FEAR. How to use the "devparm" parameter =================================== To use this parameter, start DOOM by typing: "doom -devparm ". Most of these parameters can be mixed and matched to create different effects. For instance, typing "doom -devparm -wart 1 8 -record demo01 -timedemo" would record a demo on episode one, level eight, in slow motion. -devparm Puts you in developers mode -wart Warps to episode (1-3) level (1-9) -warp This warps as well - Difference? -skill Starts on skill level (1-4) -episode Starts on episode (1-3) -loadgame Starts from a saved game (1-6) -dude Unknown -playback Network play / demo mode -drone Creates a drone of another player -recordfrom Unknown -config Reads an alternate configuration file -debugfile Dumps to debug.txt all debugging info -file Adds a filename to the .WAD file -net Use port -net play as node In developers mode, [F1] does a screenshot *: If you have a network, try setting up a network game with three players. The three terminals should have the parameters: "doom -devparm -net 3 -left" "doom -devparm -net 3" "doom -devparm -net 3 -right" Then, set up the left and right terminal monitors next to the middle monitor, in a virtual-reality type configuration. When you turn your head, you see the screen turned 90 degrees! Interesting way to play. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About DOOM ---------- In DOOM, you're a space marine, one of Earth's toughest, hardened in combat and trained for action. Three years ago you assaulted a superior officer for ordering his soldiers to fire upon civilians. He and his body cast were shipped to Pearl Harbour, while you were transferred to Mars, home of the Union Aerospace Corporation. The UAC is a multi-planetary conglomerate with radioactive waste facilities on Mars and its two moons, Phobos and Deimos. With no action for fifty million miles, your day consisted of suckin' dust and watchin' restricted flicks in the rec room. For the last four years the military, UAC's biggest supplier, has used the remote facilities on Phobos and Deimos to conduct various secret projects, including research on inter-dimensional space travel. So far they have been able to open gateways between Phobos and Deimos, throwing a few gadgets into one and watching them come out the other. Recently however, the gateways have grown dangerously unstable. Military "volunteers" entering them have either disappeared or been stricken with a strange form of insanity--babbling vulgarities, bludgeoning anything that breathes, and finally suffering an untimely death of full-body explosion. Matching heads with torsos to send home to the folks became a full-time job. Latest military reports state that the research is suffering a small setback, but everything is under control. A few hours ago, Mars received a garbled message from Phobos. "We require immediate military support. Something fraggin' evil is coming out of the gateways! Computer systems have gone berserk!" The rest was incoherent. Soon afterwards, Deimos simply vanished from the sky. Since then, attempts to establish contact with either moon have been unsuccessful. You and your buddies, the only combat troop for fifty million miles were sent up pronto to Phobos. You were ordered to secure the perimeter of the base while the rest of the team went inside. For several hours, your radio picked up the sounds of combat: guns firing, men yelling orders, screams, bones cracking, then finally silence. Seems your buddies are dead. Things aren't looking too good. You'll never navigate off the moon on your own. Plus, all the heavy weapons have been taken by the assault team leaving you only with a pistol. If only you could get your hands around a plasma rifle or even a shotgun you could take a few down on your way out. Whatever killed your buddies deserves a couple of pellets in the forehead. Securing your helmet, you exit the landing pod. Hopefully you can find more substantial firepower somewhere within the station. As you walk through the main entrance of the base, you hear animal-like growls echoing throughout the distant corridors. They know you're here. There's no turning back now. ENEMIES ------- FORMER HUMANS (dudes in filth-covered combat suits): Just a few days ago, you were probably swapping war stories with one of these guys. Now it's time to swap some lead upside their head. FORMER HUMAN SERGEANTS (dudes in black armor, also filthy): Same as above, but much meaner and tougher. These walking shotguns provide you with a few extra holes if you're not careful! IMPS (brown thorny hominids): You thought an imp was cute little dude in a red suit with a pitchfork. Where did these brown bastards come from? They heave balls o' fire down your throat and take several bullets to die. It's time to find a weapon better than that pistol if you're going to face more than one of these S.O.B.s. DEMONS (pink horrors, vaguely humanoid): Sorta like a shaved gorilla, except with horns, a big head, lots of teeth, and harder to kill. Don't get too close or they'll rip your fraggin' head off. SPECTRES (vague, half-formed shapes): Great. Just what you needed. An invisible (nearly) monster. LOST SOULS (flying skulls): Dumb. Tough. Flies. On fire. 'Nuff said. :) CACODEMONS (gigantic floating one-eyed heads): They float in the air, belch ball-lightning, and boast one Hell of a big mouth. You're toast if you get too close to these monstrosities. BARONS OF HELL (you'll know `em when you see `em): Tough as a dump truck and nearly as big, these goliaths are the worst thing on two legs since Tyrannosaurus Rex. WEAPONS ------- (1) Chain Saw (if you have it) otherwise Fist (2) Pistol (3) Shotgun (4) Chain Gun (5) Rocket Launcher (6) Plasma Rifle (7) BFG9000 SAVED GAMES ----------- You can edit the DOOM saved games, and create any of the super characters below. Note : only 30 levels are listed, levels 31 and 32 are secret, but you can access them with the IDCLEV or the -warp option. Doom 2 Deathmatch ----------------- There seems to be something strange with the IDDT cheat (the "map-mode"). It works on the Nightmare level whereas the others don't. But the real interesting thing is : Hold [Alt] while typing IDDT 3 times, on the map screen in deathmatch mode enables you to see all monsters and your human enemies! This may not work on all versions (surely not on version 1.9 and above) but we thought it was too important not to mention. Maximums: Pistol, Chainsaw = 200 (400 with backpack) Shotgun = 50 (100 with backpack) Rockets = 50 (100 with backpack) Plasma Rifle, BFG9000 = 300 (600 with backpack) Fist, Chainsaw = work forever Health = 199 Armour = 200 Where can I get the chain saw? ============================== Level 1: Right at the start, don't shoot anyone, just turn to your left, follow the passage to the balcony. How to wake up baddies without wasting bullets - rev up the chainsaw or punch something. Secret Levels ------------- You must be on Level 15 (Industrial Zone). I don't know how to get to it, but you need to find a passage made of bright red rocks with yellow mortar. At the end of this passage is a white teleport. This takes you to Level 31 (Wolfenstein). Level 31 looks just like Wolfenstein-3D with blue guards etc. The layout is the same, and the secret doors are even in the same places. However, there are two more. One is in the 'dog' pen, last cubicle on the right; the other is next to the secret elevator. The secret elevator takes you to another secret level: Level 32 (Grosse). There are 2 secret doors, one on each side of the main room. They are marked with a symbol (not plain brick). Go to the last room, kill the 4 Commander Keens, jump up onto the platform at one of the corners, operate the switch. Command parameters in Doom II - most are explained in the README file ============================= -phase -respawn -skill -opl3 -fast -episode -control -altdeath -tuner -cdrom -deathmatch -avg --> This is Austin Virtual Gaming - whatever that is -record -turbo -statcopy -shdev -timedemo -nomonsters -comdev -playdemo There are others but these are the same as in Doom I, and are explained in that section. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
