ARCTIC FOX DYNAMIX 1985,1986 ---------- Start: RUNFOX.BAT Quit: ^Q This game is difficult to win, but easy to understand. Aliens have established an outpost in the Arctic region, and you have been sent in to destroy their fortress. You are equipped with a state of the art fighting machine, and you will be facing various alien military vehicles, all of which are purple. Since there aren't any other purple things in the arctic, they are very easy to spot. However they are not easy to kill. To start game in CGA or Tandy mode, enter RUNFOX.BAT To start game in Hercules mode, enter RUNFOXH.EXE Files: All files ending in H are for Hercules. All files ending with 16 are for Tandy, all others are for CGA. For an ordinary compatible PC, always select CGA as the others hang the PC. After starting the game press F1 for a description of each alien vehicle and its function, also your mission is explained. Press F2 for 'Training' mode, F3 for Beginner mode, or F4 for tournament mode. Description of instrument panel: On the left are number of mines left, number of missiles left, speed. On the right are oxygen gauge, direction indicator, shields. Oxygen gets used while you move. When it drops to zero, you die. When the shield is all purple, you die. If you drive into a crevice (black jagged line), you die. Warning indicator is above windows, Time is below (starting at 9:00). At bottom left are 6 buttons. They are controlled by Q,W,E,A,S,D. When you fire a missile, the keys have no effect until the missile explodes. At the bottom of the screen is a radar/rearview mirror. Keys: Numbers are in the number pad. 4, J, cursor left : stop and turn left 6, L, cursor right : stop and turn right 5, K : stop 8, cursor up : forward 2, cursor down : backward 7 U : turn left 9 O : turn right 1 M : reverse left 3 > : reverse right Q : adjust sights by using up & down keys W : toggle between radar display and rear view mirror E : drop mine D : pause S : fire missile A : ??? On the radar display, you will see a thin blue line which you cannot drive through. This is a force field. If the window goes all white, move a bit and it will work again.
