SYMPTOMS
========

When you attempt to make your computer beep by pressing ALT+7 (on the numeric
keypad), a box character appears in your document instead.

CAUSE
=====

The ALT+7 key combination produces a beep in Windows 3.1, but produces a
character that has an ASCII value of 149 in Windows NT, which appears as a box
character in Windows NT.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT
Advanced Server version 3.1. This problem has been corrected in Windows NT
Workstation and Windows NT Server version 3.5.
