SYMPTOMS
========

When you start your computer, you may receive the following message:

  Your computer is configured to start with the FilterKeys feature
  turned on. With this feature, the keyboard repeat rates, acceptance
  rate and bounce rates are set for users with disabilities.

The computer may appear to stop responding (hang).

CAUSE
=====

When the FilterKeys feature is enabled, this warning message is always
displayed.

If you have the SlowKeys feature enabled, keyboard input acceptance is delayed
and it may appear that keystrokes are not being accepted.

RESOLUTION
==========

To disable the FilterKeys option, use either of the following methods:

- Disable FilterKeys using Control Panel:

  1. In Control Panel, double-click the Accessibility Options icon.

  2. Click the Use FilterKeys check box to clear it.

  3. Click OK.

- Disable FilterKeys with the emergency hot key:

  1. In Control Panel, double-click the Accessibility Options icon.

  2. On the Keyboard tab, click FilterKeys Settings.

  3. Click the Use Shortcut check box to select it, and then click OK.

  4. Click OK.

  5. To toggle the FilterKeys option off, press down and hold the right SHIFT
     for approximately eight seconds.
