SYMPTOMS
========

When you double-click the MSN or the Internet icon on the desktop, your computer
may not attempt to connect to MSN, The Microsoft Network.

CAUSE
=====

This behavior can occur for either of the following reasons:

- Your dialing properties are not set to connect to the Internet as needed.

- You are connecting to MSN or the Internet using a proxy server.

RESOLUTION
==========

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

1. In Control Panel, double-click Internet.

2. On the Connection tab, click the "Connect to the Internet as needed" check
  box to select it.

3. In the "Use the following Dial-Up Networking connection" box, click The
  Microsoft Network.

4. Click the Connect Through A Proxy Server check box to clear it, and then
  click OK.
