SYMPTOMS
========

When you use a 3Com Megahertz 10-100 LAN + 56k Modem PC Card in a Dell Inspiron
3000 portable computer, the Plug and Play PCMCIA controller is not recognized by
Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3. The operating system will have an error with the
following entry in the event log:

  The 3Com Megahertz 10/100 LAN + 56K Modem PC Card (Ethernet) service
  failed to start due to the following error: A device attached to the
  system is not functioning.

RESOLUTION
==========

A third-party driver is now available from SystemSoft. Please contact them to
get the driver.
