SYMPTOMS

You cannot send or receive e-mail after installing Windows XP.

CAUSE
=====

The firewall is active in the connection.

RESOLUTION
==========

Disable the firewall in the connection file or "connectoid".

To disable the firewall in the connection file or "connectoid"

1. Click Start.

2. Point to Connect to.

3. Right click the connection that you use to connect.

4. Click Properties.

5. Click the Advanced tab.

6. Clear the Protect my computer and Network by limiting or preventing access to
  this computer from the Internet check box.

7. Click OK.
  This will deactivate the firewall on the computer and allow you to send and
  receive e-mail.
