Removal and Replacement

Processor

Removal 1. Perform the preparation procedures. 2. Remove the hood. 3. Locate the Pentium II processor and open the top lever of the processor clip to release the heat sink.. 4. Push in the release tabs on the ends of the processor "goal posts". 5. Unplug the processor from the system board and slide out from the "goal posts". Replacement IMPORTANT: Ensure that the processor is properly aligned in the "goal posts" before plugging it into the system board. 1. To replace the Pentium II processor, reverse the removal procedure. 2. To replace the goal posts, click here. NOTE: The Pentium II processor is spared with a heatsink; therefore, we recommend that you replace the heatsink as well as the processor. CAUTION: The processor and system board may be damaged if the processor is installed with the incorrect jumper settings. Before replacing the processor, review the Jumper and Switch Information page to reset the jumpers for your system board.
