abstract

This version of SYSCON.EXE (3.76 (950411) PTF) corrects 3 problems in v3.75,
which shipped with NetWare 3.12. 1) Clarifies the way Blocks Read Charge Rates are computed in the accounting function, 2) corrects a problem with changing the Days Between Forced Changes value in Account Restrictions, and 3) fixes an error message when viewing the Groups Belonged To screen.

installation

NOTE: Always make a backup of applicable files before applying new fixes.

1) Flag SYSCON.EXE contained in the PUBLIC directory normal or sharable, read/write.

2) Rename SYSCON.EXE contained in the PUBLIC directory with a .ORG extension
to keep an original copy.

3) Copy the SYSCON.EXE provided with this update into the PUBLIC directory.

4) Flag the new file sharable, read only.

symptoms

1) There exists confusion resulting from the way NetWare computes charges used by the Blocks Read Charge Rates in the accounting function.

2) If the value for "Days Between Forced Changes" in Account Restrictions is out of range (sometimes a large negative number) the supervisor/manager will not be able to modify this field.

3) If using SYSCON.EXE as a regular user with no special rights, looking at another user, the available options are Full Name and Groups Belonged To. When selecting Groups Belonged To, it returns "ReadPropertyValue returned error 251." After clearing the error several times it would eventually show the list of groups.
