abstract

SNA31A.EXE fixes several problems for both NetWare 3.12 and 4.10 servers.
Novell recommends that all SNA Extensions 3.1 owners download SNA31A.EXE.
MPR31A.EXE MUST be downloaded and installed prior to installing SNA31A.EXE.

installation

NOTE: Only apply the files in SNA31A.EXE to a server that has SNA
Extensions 3.1.

1. IMPORTANT: First, download and install, MPR31A.EXE.

2. Make a backup copy of the files being replaced by SNA31A.

3. Create a directory called SNAEX1.

4. "Explode" SNA31A.EXE in SNAEX1.
(If you want to install from diskette, copy the SNA31A files AND directories, to a diskette, volume labeled SNAEX1.)

5. Load INSTALL.NLM.

6. Select Product Options.

7. (NetWare 4.1 only, for NetWare 3.12 skip to #8) Select
View/Configure/Remove Install Products.

8. Verify that SNA Extensions v3.1 is installed.

9. Press <ins> to install SNA31A.

9. Point INSTALL to the path or diskette containing the SNA31A files.

10. Follow the prompts.

11. Down the server and bring it back up.

Patch History:

SNA310.EXE is the first patch for SNA Extensions 3.1.

symptoms

1.The Load DLSw command was removed from the configuration, when you viewed the DLSw configuration and exited without making any changes.

2. Duplicate ring numbers in the Routing Information Field record could
have caused a DLSw loop.

3. If the translation bridge NLM, BRGXLT.NLM, was manually loaded with invalid command line parameters, connectivity was lost and the server could abend.

4. When using NetWare for SAA and Client Access/400, with DLSw as a custom data link, data transfer from an AS/400 to a PC, hung.

5. NETDB.NLM was missing from the SNA Extensions installation procedure.
