abstract

This driver is only for the internal IBM SCSI controller and does not support the external BUS type cache or non-cache controllers. Also it cannot be loaded (at this time) with any other PS2SCSI driver (Channel 0 only) or the PS2ESDI driver.

installation

To INSTALL this version of the IBM PS/2 SCSI driver:

1) Copy PS2ISCSI.DSK to the SYSTEM-1 diskette or subdirectory.

2) Copy PS2ISCSI.OBJ to the SYSTEM-2 diskette or subdirectory.

2) Run INSTALL and select IBM PS/2 Built in (MotherBoard) SCSI Disk Driver V1.14. Regenerate and install the operating system as you normally would.

***** IMPORTANT NOTE: ******************************************

This driver is only for the internal IBM SCSI controller and does not support the external BUS type cache or non-cache controllers. Also it cannot be loaded (at this time) with any other PS2SCSI driver (Channel 0 only). This means that if you want to use the internal (embedded) scsi port with this driver, you will not be able to use an IBM scsi, cache or non-cache, host bus adapter (this driver will NOT co-exist with the pss2esdi driver at present). Later versions may permit the co-existence of this driver and the HBA driver.

****************************************************************
                           CAUTION

ALWAYS backup your system before implementing any program/utility revision involving the low-level functions of NetWare including re-linking of operating system .OBJ files, Bindery utilities, drive and volume operation, etc.

SCSI DRIVERS FOR THE PS/2 MODEL 56, 57, 76, 77 and 85.

These drivers have been tested only with the internal (MotherBoard) host adapters and internal drives of the PS/2 Models 56, 57, 76, 77 and 85.

This updated SCSI disk driver, version (1.14) for NetWare v2.2, addresses several problems with the earlier version (1.1) of this driver. They are:

1) Version 1.1 exhibited problems with a CDROM on a Non-Dedicated 2.2 server.

2) Version 1.1 would not show the correct controller number within Fconsole.

3) A loss of disk space or problems with partitioning would result from the use of disk driver version 1.1 because the correct number of heads was not passed to the operating system.

4) Version 1.1 is unable to recognize internal (MotherBoard) SCSI controller on the new IBM PS/2 systems.
