TP 600 - Using the modem while travelling abroad
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
Modem works at home but does not while travelling abroad, or an error message appears such as:
The modem configuration for the selected country is not currently available on your system. Please request an update from your system manufacturer.
CONFIGURATION:
All 600 models with an internal ACP modem
SOLUTION
Click here to download the Modem Updates and then install them.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
In order for a modem to be used in a country, approval must be received from the government agency that governs communications for that country. The approvals from every country are often not received in time for the modem to be enabled for use in the preload.
To check if the modem is enabled to work in a country:
1. Go to Country Selection in the ThinkPad Modem folder in the Start menu.
2. Change the 'I am in:' field to the country you want to test
3. Select OK
4. If no error message appears, the modem will work in that country. If an error message appears, download the Modem Updates and test again.
