TP General - How to load a CD in the CD-ROM drive

Applicable to: World-Wide

Symptom:
Installing a CD into the CD-ROM or DVD drive.

Configuration:
Any ThinkPad with a CD-ROM drive or DVD drive. Note: Not all ThinkPads come with a CD-ROM drive or DVD drive installed internally to the computer.

Solution:
1. Open CD-ROM tray using the CD-ROM eject button - do not force or pry tray open.
(See User's Guide for more information on the CD-ROM eject button and CD-ROM emergency eject hole.)

2. Slide CD-ROM tray out fully. IMPORTANT: Do not touch the CD-ROM lens.

3. Align center hole of CD with CD-ROM spindle

4. Install CD by pressing the CD near the center until all 3 positive lock-down devices on the CD-ROM spindle lock into place.
Note: The CD must be installed into and not merely placed onto the tray.

5. Carefully close tray.
