TP 760E/ED/EL/ELD/XD/XL - Fitting IDE devices in Dock I or II
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
Fitting a IDE device into a Dock I or II may result in errors when an IDE device is fitted. If so check the following.
An adapter is needed if the following 3 conditions are met
- using Thinkpad 760 E/ED/EL/ELD
- using Thinkpad Dock I or II
- installing IDE device in the Docking station.
Note:
All 3 must be true for the device to be needed.
SOLUTION:
The following additional part needs to be ordered
Note:
To access IDE devices (e.g. Hard Disk Drive, CD-ROM drive) when using the 760EL with the IBM ThinkPad Dock I or Dock II, the IBM ThinkPad IDE Conversion Card (p/n 46H6002) must be used.
The reason this part is required is because of the PCI architecture of the Thinkpad 760 E series. The Dock stations are AT based and therefore the adpater is required for conversion.
