4/8GB TR4 IDE Tape Drive - Problems caused during warm boot

Symptom:
When warm rebooting the system after proper installation of the TR4 tape drive, error code 1762 will be displayed. Other errors may be displayed if other devices are attached to the same IDE controller as the Tape drive. When CMOS data is examined, the Tape drive will be shown as not installed. If the machine is cold rebooted, the system will again find the tape drive, and it will function properly. This error occurs only on warm boot.
Configuration:
This error has been seen on 6561/6591 systems at ALL BIOS levels, on 6862/6892 systems above bios level 28, and may occur on any IBM desktop or Intellistation system.
Resolution:
To correct the problem, COLD boot the system to a DOS prompt. Reprogram the firmware on the tape drive using file "tr4v535.exe". Instructions for this procedure are found in file "tr4v535.txt". Both files can also be accessed via this link -
