TP 600E,770X - Service Pack 3 or above required for correct functioning of video
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
After installing the latest video drivers for the ThinkPad 770X or 600E, the system will continue to boot in vga mode. Display Properties will show "vga compatible display adapter" and the only color depth available with be 16 colors. Reinstalling the driver does not correct the problem.
CONFIGURATION:
Any system with the Accelerated Graphics Port functionality, including the ThinkPad 770X and 600E, and Windows NT Workstation 4.0.
SOLUTION:
Support for AGP functionality is not part of the Windows NT base operating system. You must obtain and install the latest service pack; both Service Pack 3 and 4 provide this functionality. See Microsoft Knowledge Base article Q174567.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The service pack can be installed before or after the video driver to correct the problem.
