TP 600,770/E/ED - No audio in certain applications
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
No sound from programs such as QuickTime 2.x, Lotus ScreenCam, Microsoft 3D Pinball, and Knowledge Adventure's "JumpStart Toddlers".
CONFIGURATION:
Thinkpad 770/E/ED or 600 with the ACP Modem.
SOLUTION:
For QuickTiime 2.x, you can upgrade to QuickTime 3.0 or later to resolve this issue. To download the driver, visit QuickTime's home page by clicking here.
For the other applications, use the following procedure to disable the voice modem driver:
* Click on the START button.
* Click on SETTINGS.
* Click on the CONTROL PANEL icon.
* Double click on the MULTIMEDIA icon.
* Click on the ADVANCED tab.
* Click on the "+" to the left of AUDIO DEVICES.
* Click on the AUDIO FOR THINKPAD MODEM WAVE DEVICE.
* Click on PROPERTIES.
* Put a check in "Do not use audio features on this device."
* Put a check in "Do not map through this device."
* Click on the OK button.
* Click on the OK button again.
* Click on the AUDIO FOR THINKPAD PHONELINE DEVICE and repeat the above steps for disabling the device.
* Restart your computer.
These programs should now run with sound. Don't forget to re-enable these devices when you want to use the voice modem functions.
