Rapid Access Keyboard - System lock-ups

Applicable to: World-Wide

Environment:
Windows 95 or 98, Rapid Access Keyboard software version 1.0. or 1.1

Symptom #1:
The system locks up, particularly when pressing the Mute button one or more times, or Suspend button or, which is very unlikely, while the driver is loading during boot up.

Temporary solution for Symptom #1:



Symptom #2:
The system lock-ups occurs when the Mute LED is on and mouse is moved.

Temporary solution for Symptom #2:
Disable the Mute and Suspend LEDs.

To disable the LEDs:

  1. From Start Menu, select Settings-Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Rapid Access Keyboard icon.
  3. From the Customize panel, select Preferences.
  4. Disable the Mute and Suspend LEDs.
  5. Select OK and Cancel to exit.


Note: This will disable only the Mute and Suspend LEDs, not the scroll lock, Cap lock and Num Lock LEDs.

Permanent solution:
Install the lastest driver. Click here to access the driver.
