TP 1721 - Considerations for Windows 98
Applicable to: United States
Below is a list of considerations for running Windows 98 on the ThinkPad
- System freezes after resuming from suspend mode during the playback on MPEG2 files using ActiveMovie. To prevent this symptom from occurring, do not suspend/resume the system during playback of MPEG2 files.
- No audio is heard after resuming from suspend mode either during playback of MPEG2 files or while a MPEG2 file is paused during playback. To prevent this symptom from occurring, do not suspend/resume the system during playback of MPEG2 files.
- 3Com Ethernet III LAN + 33.6 Global PC Card Modem does not work after resuming from suspend mode. To prevent this symptom from occurring, do not suspend/resume the system when using this card.
- The playback screen of DVDExpress freezes after pressing the Forward button while playing a MPEG2 file. To recover from this symptom, either close and then reopen the application or stop and then replay the DVD movie.
- The width of the playback window is only half the width when playing back Half Horizontal Resolution (HHR: MPEG2) files using ActivMovie. This does not occur when using Media Player or DVDExpress.
- Green colored noise appears before starting a movie when playing back PAL MPEG files using ActiveMovie. This does not occur when using Media Player or DVDExpress.
- Movie image becomes dis-ordered when changing or closing "Multimedia Properties" while playing a DVD movie. This does not occur when using Media Player or DVDExpress. To prevent this symptom from occurring, do not change or close "Multimedia Properties" while playing a DVD movie.
