TP 701 - Removing the power on password
Applicable to: World-Wide
Service Information:
On page 156 of the April 95 vol 2 HMM the directions for disabling the Power on Password for the Thinkpad 701 are a bit confusing.
step 4 reads "short pads with a paper clip"
step 5 reads "Replace SO-DIMM door"
step 6 reads "Power on the computer and wait until post ends"
This is incorrect.
You have to short the pins on the bottom of the system while you power on the system. This would be impossible if you replaced the SO-DIMM door first.
