Netfinity 7000 M10 - Ambient over-temperature failure reported incorrectly
Applicable to: World-Wide
Source: RETAIN tip H164900
If the machine shuts down due to ambient temperature exceeding its threshold value, the error logs will not log it as a shut down due to ambient temperature. It will be logged as a shut down due to a DASD over temperature condition.
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
- The system is a Netfinity 7000 M10 server, Type 8680, any model.
- Exact error message: DASD Over Temp
- Diagnostics pass
FIX:
A permanent fix is not available.
WORKAROUND:
Ignore the error message saying "DASD Over Temp" and translate it as an "Ambient Over Temperature" error. After restarting the system, use NF to check temperature of both ambient and DASD to ensure that system is running properly.
