IBM PC300PL - Unable to configure Creative Labs plug'n'play modem in OS/2 Warp 4.0
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
Errors (SYS3175, "Unable to Open COMM Port", etc.) occur when attempting to install the Creative Labs PNP modem under OS/2 Warp 4.0.
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
Other models of Plug'n'Play modems may exhibit similar errors.
FIX:
1. From an OS/2 command prompt, run RMVIEW/DC to list which resources the system is using.
2. Using the OS/2 system editor, add the PNP modem's resources to the COM.SYS statement in the CONFIG.SYS file.
3. Reboot, go into F1 Setup and make sure that no other devices are using those resources. If no other devices are using the modem's resources, make them "Not Available" so the PNP BIOS will not allow other devices to be assigned those resources. If another device is using these resources, that device will need to be reconfigured to free these resources.
4. Reboot the system. The PNP modem should now be recognized in OS/2.
