PC Server 320/520 - STB video adapter problems
Applicable to: World-Wide
Abstract :
Video Problems using STB Video Adapter
Symptom :
No Video on System Boot or Video fading over time
Problem Isolation Aids :
Systems affected are Server 320 or Server 520 with STB video adapter FRU 06H9114 fitted.
Fix :
Replace STB video adapter FRU 06H9114 with BOCA Research Video adapter FRU 71G0031. If the customer is running SVGA driver under WARP or OS/2 2.11, the adapter can be exchanged and the VGA driver can be loaded as follows :
1. Turn on the Computer
2. When a small white box appears in the upper left corner of your screen, press ALT + F1.
If you see the OS/2 Logo displayed, you must start again at step 1 by CTRL + ALT + DEL. If you fail to do this, a trap will be sprung.
3. When the recovery choices screen appears, press V.
4. As a result, the VGA driver will be loaded from the HF. After this is done, the OS diskettes or CDROM will be required to do a selective install of the SVGA driver following the instructions contained in the Readme of the SVGA support disk.
This tip will be updated when the problem is resolved
