Abstract:
Incorrect power supply status, after adding a power supply
Adding an extra power supply to Netfinity 7000 M10 causes the Service Processor to issue an incorrect power supply status. Recovery message is logged in the event log. This confirms that power supply is operating correctly.
SYMPTOM:
Upon hot-adding a power supply, the error log will log a power supply failure in that particular slot together with power supply recovery messages. Following is the sequence of error messages:
Power Supply x Fault
Power Supply x DC Good Fault
Recovery Power Supply x Fault
Recovery Power Supply x DC Good Fault
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
- The system is a Netfinity 7000 M10 server, Type 8680, any model.
- Exact error message: Power Supply X Fault.
- The system's Diagnostics pass.
WORKAROUND:
Disregard the power supply failure error messages since they are not valid statements.
DETAILS:
These errors will not be generated if the additional power supply is added prior to system power-up.
