Applicable to: World-Wide
Source: RETAIN tip H165467
Abstract:
ON/OFF SWITCH NOT WORKING AFTER SYSTEM CATASTROPHIC FAILURE
TEXT:
On/Off switch will not work after system catastrophic failure.
SYMPTOM:
System may not respond to the On/Off switch once it has been shut down due a catastrophic failure. Over voltage errors may get logged in the system error log. These errors are a possible cause of catastrophic failures.
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
- The system is a Netfinity 7000 M10 server, Type 8680, any Model.
WORKAROUND:
If the system shuts down due to a catastrophic failure, un-plug the AC cord and wait about 10 seconds before connecting again. Power the system once AC cord is connected. If system does not respond, remove AC cord and then replace the 5V regulator card at the rear of system. Plug AC cord and re-start.
