TP 755CE/CSE/CD/CV/CDV/CX,760 - Megahertz PCMCIA Modem 28.8/14.4 and Windows 95
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
TP755cx can use the Mwave modem (Mwave 2.0) but cannot dial out using Megahertz PCMCIA modem in Windows 95
Problem Isolation Aid:
Win95's device manager shows that the port status of the Communication Port are:
Com 1:
- Does not show "COM1" but can be identified by its interrupt 4.
- "This device is causing a resource Conflict Troubles shooter in Help (Code 15)".
- the Megahertz is automatically assigned to com1. No other com port can be set.
Com2:
- normal & used by Mwave.
- the Megahertz modem does not work even the com2 or Mwave is disabled.
Workaround:
Enable the serial 1 in the BIOS setting so that COM1 is used by the serial 1 device, then the Megahertz modem will adjust to the next available com port: COM3 (as COM2 is used by Mwave modem) and everything work fine even there are 2 extra com ports are showing error.
