Servers - Backups to the Mammoth 20/40 tape drive fail
Applicable to: World-Wide
Problem:
Windows NT Backup or Seagate Backup Exec fail backing up to the Mammoth 20/40 tape drive.
Symptoms:
When backing up, the system will complete a backup of 200MB - 1GB and then give an error trying to read from the tape.
Systems Affected:
Any system connected to a 20/40 tape drive.
Cause:
Older firmware revisions of the Mammoth had bugs which can prevent the tape drive from backing up successfully.
Solution:
Contact Exabyte (303) 417-7325 for a new BIOS update. Ask the technicians for BIOS v39. If v39 is unavailable, ask
the technicians for v38w, which is the specific fix for this problem.
