TP 770/E/ED - MPEG audio and video stutters
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
MPEG audio and video stutters during playback.
CONFIGURATION:
Thinkpad 770/E/ED series playing MPEG files.
SOLUTION:
The following actions allow the MPEG files to play smoothly:
1. Click on Start ==>Settings ==>Control Panel ==>System ==>Device Manager ==>Disk Drives ==>Generic IDE Disk Type<7 ==> Settings ==>Enable DMA.
(This can also be done for the DVD (CD-ROM) drive.)
2. My Computer > Control Panel > System > Performance > File System > (on Hard Disk page). In Settings box, select Typical role of this machine to be "Network server".
NOTE:
In order to Enable DMA for a secondary hard drive in the UltraBay, first disable IDE Hot Swap as follows:
1. Click on Start ==>Programs ==>ThinkPad ==>ThinkPad Configuration ==>UltraBay
2. Uncheck the box labelled "Enable IDE device Hot Swap".
