Description
Executing this file will run a program which creates a bootable floppy. Booting the computer off of the floppy will flash the BIOS, updating it to the most current level. This can solve conflicts with new hardware and software that require information not in the original bios in order to interact with the system. This updates the BIOS level to: BG2xx0M or BO3xx0I. xx is the Country Specific information and will change from one country to another.

The program used to make the BIOS diskette self-extracting does not support Windows NT. This program does support all operating systems which were preloaded on Aptiva systems that require BIOS updates.

DESCRIPTION

This bootable diskette updates the BIOS level of 2144 and 2168 systems to
level BG2__0M or BO3__0I, whichever is appropriate.

Updates in this level of BIOS:

- Fixed ATAPI drive detection issues
- Fixed the check for real-time clock (RTC) update-in-progress
- Updated Y2K rollover algorithm in the timer tick
- Added checks for RTC update-in-progress in power management

EXTRACTING THE UPDATE
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

1) Format a high density 3.5" diskette.
2) Download the file ODYFLASH.EXE to your hard drive.
3) Run ODYFLASH.EXE to create the diskette.

ODYFLASH.EXE creates a bootable diskette which updates the BIOS on the
system.

INSTALLING THE UPDATE

*** DO NOT TURN OFF OR REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM WHILE UPDATING THE ***
*** BIOS! ***
*** ***
*** IRREPARABLE DAMAGE MAY BE DONE TO THE SYSTEM IF IT IS ***
*** TURNED OFF OR REBOOTED WHILE THE BIOS IS BEING UPDATED. ***

1) Shut the system down normally. Be sure it is powered off, not suspended.
2) Place the BIOS update diskette in the diskette drive.
3) Boot the system.
4) A menu will prompt you to enter the desired language. Choose the appropriate
language here.
5) You will be asked if you would like to change the serial number. Choose 'N'
for no.
6) Next you will be asked if you would like to change the machine type/model.
Choose 'N' for no.
7) The system BIOS will be updated. When the BIOS update is complete, remove
the diskette and press the enter key to reboot the system. *** Do not do
this until you are prompted to do so. ***
