These files correct for ASCII text appearing in the Device Manager. Manually replacing corrupt MSPORTS.INF or using MSPORTS.EXE to do so automatically will remove ASCII text.

To manually update MSPORTS.INF:
- Replace the existing MSPORTS.INF file with the updated file in the directories \WINDOWS\INF and \WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS\ .

To automatically update MSPORTS.INF:
- Use the MSPORTS.EXE to create a bootable diskette. After creating diskette, shut down the system leaving the diskette in the diskette drive. Restart the system. Updates will be made automatically.
