Netfinity7000 - Hangs running NetWare with ServeRAID II at IRQ15
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
The Netfinity 7000 system will lock up when the Netfinity Manager loads the MONRAID.NLM or MONDASD.NLM modules in NetWare. The system must be rebooted to recover.
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
All of the following must be true for this tip to apply:
- The system is a Netfinity 7000 type 8651 model TM0/TH0/RM0/RH0 configured with an IBM ServeRAID II adapter (FRU p/n 76H3587) set to IRQ 15.
- The system is running NetWare 4.11 SMP and any version of Netfinity Manager.
- The Advanced Systems Management Adapter driver for NetWare is loaded.
FIX:
Use the SCU (System Configuration Utility) to change the interrupt setting for the ServeRAID II adapter from IRQ15 to any other IRQ that is not in use (or to a shared IRQ if necessary).
DETAIL:
NetWare uses IRQ15 to process lost interrupts. In some situations, as in the case of the ServeRAID II adapter, setting an adapter to use IRQ15 will cause conflicts. For more information, see the NetWare troubleshooting Tip# 21620 located at the NetWare Website.
