The named daemon works for only 1 or 2 minutes.

Question:

I have a RISC at AIX 3.2.3 that is configured to be a secondary DNS server
to an HP acting as the primary server.

The named daemon works fine for a couple minutes before it stops to
function. (i.e. name resolution hangs) The daemon does not die, but
I am getting many instances of the following error:

0826-035 response from 'ip-address' is not in a valid form

If I restart the daemon, it starts working again, but within a couple
of minutes, it stops working just as before.

Response:

Your domain name in the /etc/named.boot file ended with a period. We
removed the '.' but the original error persists. When named is
working, it is very slow, and it still stops working after a couple
minutes.

Response:

The domain name was misspelled in the local file. When this was corrected,
the problem was solved.
