I have written a program to call the following symbols:
xmbuf_query_extension
xmbuf_create_buffer
xmbuf_destroy_buffer

I receive the error above and I thought they were in a library called
/usr/lib/Xext.a .  I need to know how to resolve this problem so
that my program will get the symbols.

Response:

Called Customer, confirmed that the functions were:
  XmbufQueryExtension XmbufCreateBuffer XmbufDestroyBuffer

She thought that their command line had the X libraries in the order
 "-lX11 -lXt -lXm", which doesn't work.  We require that (due to some
 symbol preemption) the libraries should be in the order "-lXm -lXt
  -lX11".
