WORDFLEX Version 2.60 - List of Modifications. The following modifications were implemented in Version 2.60 of Wordflex compared to the previous versions (1.1, 1.3, etc.): 1. The program will run now only on IBM PC DOS Version 2.+. It can access files on all installed drives and in all subdirectories. A new command, Alt U, the file utility, allows directory listings, file rename, file delete and change of the current subdirectory. Also, directory listing and/or handling of hidden files is now possible, including the ability to hide or unhide selected files. 2. The printed output utility (Alt O) has been completely rewritten. The Alt O command displays now a menu of options relevant to the printed output. A new option, multiple copies of the printed output, has been added. The Ctrl Break combination that aborted the program in the previous versions is used now to stop the text output to the selected printer. As a result, printing can be stopped immediately if a printer spooler is not used. With a printer spooler (activated before starting the Wordflex session), the printing will continue till the spooling buffer becomes empty. The program can be aborted now only by rebooting the system. 3. Handling of page headers has been improved. Page headers are now stored with the text files and are automatically retrieved when a file is loaded on a text buffer. When switching from one file buffer to another, the page header information is updated, including the text of the page header, its format (top, bottom) and the current page number in each of the active text buffers. If bottom page headers are selected, they are now inserted correctly even on the last page which does not have to contain the selected number of lines. Entering of a page header has been streamlined, most of the text editing features are now available for a header entry including line centering, entering control character or extended IBM ASCII characters. 4. The find and replace utility has been modified so as to allow inclusion of most control characters (except TAB - ASCII 9, carriage return - ASCII 13, EOF - ASCII 26, extended ASCII 255). This should prove useful for global searches and replaces including those characters. Typically, one may want to replace the underlining delimiters used by WORDFLEX by escape sequences applicable to a given type of printer. 5. Similarly, the number of control characters that can become part of the text has been extended. The linefeed character - ASCII 10 - can be now entered directly. The backspace character - ASCII 8 - can be entered when the backspace flag is set TRUE. Upon doing it, however, one can no longer use the backspace key for a destructive backspace to be used for text entry and/or editing. 6. Selection of display colors (when an RGB color monitor is used) is now possible with the new version of the "defaults" program. 7. Additional versions of the program are now available for exclusive use on DOS Version 1.1 (1.0) or 2.0 (2.1). The size of documents to be edited can be increased by selecting the DOS 1.1 version (no access to subdirectories) or the DOS 2.0 overlaid version 2.65 which will not run on DOS 1.1 but makes additional 18 Kbytes of memory available for the text buffer. You can obtain these versions (if you purchased the current Version 2.60) by sending us a blank diskette in a prepaid mailer. An effort was made to eliminate all errors present in the previous versions of WORDFLEX. NEMCO will appreciate reporting of any residual problems you may still encounter.
