The user is required to supply the medium and postage to transport the product. Individuals and companies are allowed to make copies for their non-profit use and to provide copies for other interested parties. If the product is not satisfactory in the user's opinion, no payment is made to the company issuing the product. Each user judging the product to be of value is urged to pay a fee set by the issuing company. PCFL has embraced this philosophy but also accepts prepaid subscriptions. Standard DOS commands should be used to print an article. ( At the bottom of each article is the name of the file containing the article. The one exception is the case of source code files where the file name is listed at the top of the file.) The largest file that can be viewed is currently 64K. ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ Future Direction ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ PCFL is destined to become a project development magazine. Readers are invited to send suggestions for programs we can design together. A central project will be selected, designed, and broken into modules. Each module will be written in a language featured in PCFL (and maybe some that aren't ). This comparative approach should be valuable to contrast the different languages. NOTE: I would like to see books written using this comparative language approach, possibly with fewer languages. Advertisements in many magazines cost $2,000 (and up ) per full page for a one-time insertion. I suspect that good quality software is languishing for lack of advertising capital. PCFL is meant to provide an alternative for the disenfranchised masses that can not afford such rates. Our current rates are $30 per screen for a one-time insertion. ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ For Color Monitors Only ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ The program COLORFUL.EXE on this diskette allows users of an RGB monitor to change the foreground, background, or border colors of the screen. When the user exits this program the colors are NOT reset. This allows one to find pleasant color combinations and use them under DOS. The program is invoked by typing COLORFUL after the DOS prompt: A>COLORFUL and pressing the ENTER key. ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ Printers ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ Most printers do not reproduce the full IBM character set. In particular, many of the nice graphics displayable on the IBM monitor ( and used in PCFL ) may print as "garbage" or at least not as expected. The routine PRETTY1.EXE on this diskette, will cause the printer to print "extended" graphic characters as a series of asterisks. To invoke this module, type PRETTY1 after the DOS prompt: A>PRETTY1 and press the ENTER key.
