The FDISK command is used to prepare a fixed disk drive for use and maintain it later. Portions of the disk may be allocated for use by other operating systems (non-DOS), and the disk may be segmented into a series of logical disk drives or partitions rather than one large capacity drive (although only one of these partitions is available at any given time).
