First I desoldered the plug for the 500's power supply from the
motherboard. With the board facing you as if you were sitting in
front of the 500 this is what you'll see with the 500's powersupply
plugin removed. The o's are the empty solder holes.

I got a female IBM plug. Stripped the ends and soldered them
straight into the holes left by the powersupplys old plugin on the
500's motherboard. The plug is the same one that works for diskdrives-
harddrives on the IBM's or clones and has the colors Red, Black,
Black, Yellow. You'll need a male also to connect to the new powersupply.
On the IBM-clone powersupply you'll see two plugins that are
different than the rest. These are the plugs that plug into the
IBM-clones motherboard. One plug will have 6 wires that are colored
RED RED RED WHITE BLACK BLACK clone powersupply wires
        Red Black Amiga connection Wires

The other plug will have 6 wires also and will be colored
ORANGE RED YELLOW BLUE BLACK BLACK clones powersupply wires
           Yellow Black Amiga connection wires

I used a male plug to connect to the IBM powersupply and it
makes a nice quick disconector for my powersupply since I used
the female on the Amiga mother board. Also I still have my old 500
powersupply unchanged.
If you want to use the cord off the old powersupply here's
where the wires go just in case. Looking at the motherboards
power supply plugin from the inside of the 500 you'll see
something like this.

                         ___________
                         | |----Black Plastic cover
                         | |
                           / | \
                          / | \---------metal legs
                         | / | \ |
                         | | | | |
                         Y B R B

The center leg can't be seen from the outside because it's
covered in plasticbut it is the center pin on the socket. From
the outside of the computer it will look like this.

                         ___________
                        | |
            Yellow --------O O---------Black
                        | O------------Black
                        | O O----------Red
                        | |
                        -------------
Make sure that you check the volts between the red and
black and the yellow and black before you plug it in. Look
them up in the Amiga manual or just look on the bottom of the
Amiga powersupply.
