Resistor Color Code

This program will give you the value, band color, and tolerance of a resistor.
To find the value of a resistor you must enter the color bands of the
resistor. To find what color bands a resistor should have, you enter the
value of the resistor.

This program can be used in two different ways. First you can enter the
color of each band, by looking at the resistor bands and selecting the
color on the computer screen that match each band color. When all colors
are entered the picture of a resistor at the bottom of the screen will
display the colors that you entered and should match the colors of your
resistor. The resistor value will also be displayed just above the resistor
picture.

You can enter values from .10 Ohm to 99 MegOhms.

Entering by color code:
Each resistor has three or four color bands. The first three bands are
closer together, and the forth band if present, is used for tolerance value.
You must click on the color in the first color band box that matches the first
color band of the resistor. Now you must click on the color in second color
box that matches the second color band of the resistor.
The third color band is the multiplier band. It is used to determine the
amount of zero's to be added to resistor value. You must click on the color
in the third color band box that matches the third color band of the resistor.
Now the forth color band is for tolerance. On some resistors there is no
forth color band, which makes the resistor have a tolerance of 20%. If there
is a forth color band, click the color that is in the Tolerance box that
matches the color band of the resistor.

Now that you entered all the colors of the resistor, the value, tolerance
and a picture of a resistor with the colors is displayed on the screen.

Entering by value:
If you want to know what the colors should be on a resistor, you can enter the
value of the resistor and the picture will display the color bands.
Start by using the numbers that are in each color box. For example if you want
to know what color bands are on a 47K resistor, you click on the 4 in the
first band color box. Now you click on the 7 in the second band color box.
Now you click the box labeled K Ohms. You are done.
The value and picture of the resistor are displayed on the screen.

If you want to know the color bands of a resistor that has a decimal point
in it. You only have to click on the decimal point button after you entered
the first color band, next enter the second value, and click the Ohms, K Ohms
or MegOhms box.

Entering value of less then 1 Ohm:
To enter a value of less than 1 Ohm you must first click the Less Than 1 Ohm
box. Then enter the value you want. The value and picture of the resistor are
displayed on the screen.

Reset:
Click on reset to re-enter the resistor values, or if you make a mistake.

FeedBack:
I would like feed back on this program. Sam, Compuserve 76750,1462

Note: If you enter the values in the correct sequence the program will work .
If not anything can happen.
