First, on the DIN-5 Plug, with the male pins facing you, and the indent tab on the top, the pins left to right are (counter clock wise from 9 oclock to 3 oclock) 5-4-3-2-1.

Here's a goofy little drawing of it (give me A+ for effort). Here's the best
circle I can do.

   /--^--\
  5(o o)1
  4(o o o)
    \-3-/

There's two layouts, one for DB9 and one for DB25.
With the DB25 or DB9 female plug facing you and the wide part at the top

   5 4 3 2 1 - or - 13 7 6 5 4 3 2 1
   o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o
    o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o
    9 8 7 6 25 20 14

-----------------------------------------------------
For the DB9 Configuration:

DB9 Pin 2 to DIN Pin 2
DB9 Pin 3 to DIN Pin 4
DB9 Pin 5 to DIN Pin 3
DB9 Shield to DIN Shield

DB9 Pin 4 to DB9 Pin 6 (For Flow Control)
DB9 Pin 7 to DB9 Pin 8

No connections on DB9 Pins 1 and 9
No connections on DIN Pins 1 and 5

-------------------------------------------------------
For the DB25 Configuration:

DB25 Pin 2 to DIN Pin 4
DB25 Pin 3 to DIN Pin 2
DB25 Pin 7 to DIN Pin 3
DB25 Shield to DIN Shield

DB25 Pin 4 to DB25 Pin 5 (for flow control)
DB25 Pin 6 to DB25 Pin 20

No connections on DB25 Pins 8 to 19, 21 to 25.
No connections on DIN Pins 1 and 5

Have fun!
