* Advanced
Jo Mail is written is the Java programming language which requires the JRE (Java Runtime Environment version 1.2) to run. If you already have the JRE on your computer, there is no need to download the JRE again. At the Jo Mail website (http://www.jomail.net/), there is a download option which will allow you to download Jo Mail without the JRE. This version is preferred and is considerably smaller (.5 Megabytes compared to 6.2 Megabytes).
The JRE is provided (for free) from Sun Microsystems at the following address:
http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.2/jre/download-windows.html
The link above is to version 1.2 of the JRE. Sun also has available version 1.3 of the JRE. This is still under development at Sun, but we have tested Jo Mail with 1.3 and it works without problem. Also, there is a small performance increase over version 1.2 and is therefore recommended.
