MPEG Carver is a powerful MPEG-1/2 video editor. It is a software based editor which requiring no specialist hardware although it supports some hardware decoder, a fast multimedia PC with Win98/NT is all you need to make it fully function without any compromise.






Using MPEGCarver to create a MPEG movie involves several steps:

1.	Digitize source material

	-MPEG encoding hardware/software
	-MPEG1, MPEG2 (I,B,P frame) files

2.	Use the Gallery to collect and organize MPEG clips

	-Collect MPEG clips into the Gallery
	-Move selected clip to Preview Window

3.	Use the Trimming Tool and Timeline for editing

	-Trim clips, mark in/out points, frame-by-frame search with Trimming Tool

4.	Render, Save the edited movie

	-Add clips to Timeline and edit video on Timeline
	-Render movie and save to disk

5.	Play the finished movie on Preview Window and/or external video monitor

	-Playback saved movie with hardware decoder on Preview Window and external video monitor if available
	-Playback saved movie on Preview window with no hardware decoder

MPEG Carver has three windows: Gallery Window, Preview Window/Trim Tool, Timeline Window/Story board. You can collect and maintain all the necessary MPEG clips for the project in this window; the file information and the bitmap of the sequence are also displayed in this window.
The preview window is a powerful software MPEG video browser with fast frame-accurate seeking feature. You can select and add MPEG clips to the timeline window. The timeline window has two property pages: timeline window page and story board page. The timeline window page give you an intuitive view of the relationship between different clips, while the story board page provides in point and out point information and there images. You can re-locate and re-edit video clips freely through the project window.

All the status of these three windows and the program settings can be save into a MPEG Carver Project file and reload any time later.

MPEG Carver also provides a comprehensive set of MPEG tools, including multiplexer, de-multiplexer, repacketizer and repairing tools.
