I want to welcome you to Digital Visions systems personally! I am appreciative of your support and also your compliments in making this a world class system. Due to its popularity, I now have many callers from across the nation and now trans continental callers as well. With your support, the DV system strives to create more graphics and also make access better through hardware upgrades. ============================================================================ Digital Vision has five numbers: This bulletin you are reading is FROM the 213 732-6935 unit. This units function is to field calls from non-members, supply info about what Digital Visions is about and also act as a community bulletin board for this area. Many call to view the files on the BBS as to what I have created as well as what other items of interest are here. These LISTS are mere ASCII lists and no actual files exit here at this number. There are some SAMPLES but few REAL actual files. As a subscriber, you must now access the REAL Digital Vision SERVER from now on for ALL files access. This SERVER is a multi- line system whose purpose is to service subscribers only like you. On your communications program it should look like this: -------------------------------------------------------------- 213 732-6935 - DV PUBLIC Welcome/Frontend board - Sample FILES 213 734-3301 - DV SERVER Subscriber's only - MAIN line 213 734-6119 - DV SERVER Subscriber's only - Aux 213 734-5732 - DV SERVER Subscriber's only - Aux 213 734-0053 - DV SERVER Subscriber's only - Aux PLEASE Note: The (213) 734-3301 is the 'Hunting' number so if 3301 is busy the next line is accessed and if thats busy it goes to the next. This way can repeat dial 3301 and wait for the next available line thats vacated. All FIVE lines operate at 2400 baud If you CANNOT login - PLEASE call this BBS at 213 732-6935 for assistanace so that we can get you going quickly. 732-6935 is clear and ready for calls every 40 min maximum. 24 hours a day. Some notes.... Unlike other BBS's I do not require you to upload! I just want you to enjoy what has been created here and get what you like. If you do find a file that you think you would like to share PLEASE do upload it. It is APPRECIATED but NOT a requirement. Digital Visions FIles POLICY As far as DISTRIBUTING the items here. There are some restrictions. Any item without my DV signature is pretty much gratis and free for any usage whether to upload to another BBS or whatever. I ask that my own signature files be more on a person to person basis Give them to your friends or someone who is genuinely interested in computer art. I have this policy so that the newest items created don't end up on a BBS overnight 20 min from which I slaved on it for 4 to 8 hours. I am NOT in the market to provide people whose purpose is to usurp the unique nature of my images I draw by making them available to the public. Just remember that wide distribution of my LATEST personal works usurps other supporters who have paid a fee to access them. The main idea is to keep the unique items here from getting too common. Much of the work here is one of a kind and I would like to keep them in that status for subscribers. Thank you for your cooperation Sincerely, Dion Kraft ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Information you need to handle your first logon onto the SERVER ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOGON expiration system ----------------------- The SERVER will ask for your FIRST name and then your LAST name. Especially with ones with LARGE menus and you KNOW what your going to do next while your waiting for the menus to complete their scroll down and await your input. With TBBS this is not the case. Once you have learned the DV structure you can easily navigate through my BBS very quickly by remembering these "POWER TIPS" - No, you do not have to be some kind of technical whiz to take advantage of this. Its easy and you will LOVE it! The only thing to remenber is that TBBS detects your keystrokes ALL the time. TBBS only reacts when they are valid. If you had a menu with letters A-Z and you hit a number, TBBS just sits there, no scroll (and MORE waiting!) Just remember that S will STOP the menu and await your command whereas P will PAUSE it. ENTER will resume your PAUSED menu. Okay, lets put his into PRACTICAL use! Okay, you call..you see my DV logo..hit S to stop it and TBBS will give you the LOGON sequence. You logon...the info menu comes up. This menu SOMETIMES cannot be STOPPED as I have configed it so you HAVE to read it. This info is for your benefit when I need to convey important news to my users. Okay, Hit ENTER and the MAIN menu is just starting to scroll from the top. Hit S for the COMMAND prompt or hit a VALID letter in the menu to take you there. You hit D (for dload) the DIR MENU comes up. Hit D again to take you to DIRECT DIR. Hit Z to check out the new uploads (non-gif). So you see, ONCE you know the menu structure - your logon can be quick. Once again, it was call get DV logo, S, logon, D, D, Z If you want to backout and log off from where you are. It would be Minus, Minus, G, N or --GN I am making the MINUS (-) sign the back out command as it is easily within reach on your keyboard. You will have to explore the BBS so that you will understand how it is layed out. I have tried to make it UN "TREE" type as possible as there is always a chance to 'Get Lost' in the menus. I have been through this myself and KNOW what frustration it can be! If you have any questions ALWAYS refer then to me as SYSOP (System Operator) so that I can receive the message and help you out quickly. Please also check out the BULLETINS on graphic file formats and the appropriate display program to show them. There are MANY programs and file formats to sustain some confusion but please do some reading to acquaint yourself with what goes with what. Well, thats about it.....I hope this mini-tutorial is helpfull and you can take advantage of the info contained within. Thanks again for your support and best of all enjoy what I have to offer! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Rev: 5/15/90
