B U R G L A R Y V1.5 --------------------- A Strategic Game for MS Windows by Immo Zech April 1993 - July 1994 Contens: ------- 1. Introduction 2. System requirements and installation 3. A short summary of how to play 4. SHAREWARE-Agreement 5. Other Stuff 1. Introduction --------------- The goal is to steal as much money as possible. To do so you must hire up to four burglars and make them break into a building. After the burglary you may trade with your stolen goods to make profit. BURGLARY requires Microsoft(TM) Windows and uses all the elements Windows has to offer. With Version 1.5 there is an Online Help available. Furthermore BURGLARY can be played either in English or in German. Users of an older Version of BURGLARY can use the saved games of this older version. 2. System requirements and installation --------------------------------------- BURGLARY requires Microsoft(TM) Windows 3.1 or higher. If you do not use Online Help the program should also be executable with Version 3.0. This, however, has not been tested. There seems to be a problem with the colour palette when BURGLARY is run in Seamless-Mode under OS/2 2.1 oder higher. The burglars' pictures are shown in wrong colours. If anybode knows the reason for this strange behaviour *please* let me know. BURGLARY consists of the following files: BURGLARY.EXE The executable program file PICTURES.MDT The burglars' pictures COLORS.MDT The color table NAMES_G.MDT The German Names of the ground plans NAMES_E.MDT The English names of the ground plans THIEF_G.MDT The burglars' Names and Attributes in German THIEF_E.MDT The burglars' Names and Attributes in English BURGL_G.HLP German Online Help file BURGL_E.HLP English Online Help file LEVXX.MIL The ground plans MASTER.MDT The current highscore (probably missing) README.TXT This file LIESMICH.TXT The same text in German BWCC.DLL BORLAND Windows Custom Controls Library Those files must be copied in a harddisk directory. Clicking on BURGLARY.EXE in the file manager or runs the program. You can also add BURGLARY to a program group of your program manager. If you are not familiar with this please refer to the Windows Online Help. You may add the desired game language as command line parameter. /E or /English starts an English game and /D or /Deutsch starts a German one. Example: If your game directory is C:\WINGAMES\BURGLV15, entering C:\WINGAMES\BURGLV15\BURGLARY.EXE /E starts an English game. If you do not add a command line parameter you will be prompted for your language. This selection cannot be altered during the game! 3. A short summary of how to play --------------------------------- BURGLARY falls into five phases: * Selection of the ground plan * Selection of the burglars * Planning on the ground plan * Execution of the burglary * Trade BURGLARY can be played rather intitutive. If you play for the first time simply refer to the Online Help with can be accessed by simply pressing while the BURGLARY window is active. Moreover, clicking on every button with the SHIFT-key pressed brings up a short description of the button's function. 4. SHAREWARE-Agreement ---------------------- This program is NOT Public-Domain but SHAREWARE! You are permitted to distribute it without charge provided that all the files are unmodified and distributed together. Mind that I do hold the Copyright in this program. Although this program has been extensively tested there is of course no kind of warranty, especially not for bug-freeness. You may test BURGLARY for one month. If you like it, please send DM 30,- to Immo Zech Sielkamp 52 D-38112 Braunschweig You will receive the full version with at least 25 ground plans (there are only 15 ground plans available in the Shareware-Version). If I can get back to you via E-mail, please let me know. Please be fair and consider the many hours of work! 5. Other Stuff -------------- First of all, please apologize for all the mistakes in using the Englisch language I surely made. It's not my native language. "BURGLARY" was programmed with BORLAND Pascal 7.0 using ObjectWindows. "BWCC.DLL" is supplied by courtesy of BORLAND International. Many thanks to Carsten Senkfeil and Karen Lehmann for the Co-development of the game idea, the design of the Dollar-Icon and Beta-Testing. Many thanks to Michael Salzenberg, Michael Hanns and Andre Woebbeking for additional Beta- Testing. Many thanks to Michael Hanns for additional ground plans. The pictures were scanned by Dirk Hillbrecht and Christian Ide with a LogiTech Scanman Color and Fototouch for Windows using OS/2 2.1. Many thanks! The algorithm that directs the thieves back to the car is quite complex. In large ground plans and with considerable distance between burglar and car searching the best route may take up to a few seconds. Be patient! Last but not least many thanks to all those who entered the game as thieves. This program is dedicated to Ina.
