To login to the trial version of Abritus Business 2000, please type "DEMO" for both user name and password. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. How can I use Abritus Business 2000 over a Local Area Network (LAN)? To install the product over LAN, please follow these steps: (1) Copy the file DATA.MDB from the directory where you installed the product (usually, C:\B2000) to some network directory which is available for all of your users (for this example, let's say it is N:\B2000). (2) Run Abritus Business 2000 and login with some administrative account. (3) Select "File->Open" from the menu. (4) Press "Yes" when asked to close the current database. (5) In the input box, type the full network drive, directory and filename where you want to keep your database (i.e. N:\B2000\DATA.MDB) and press "OK". (6) Wait for Abritus Business 2000 to attach the remote database. If the operation is successful, a message box "Open successful" shall appear. Press "OK". (7) Press "Cancel" when asked to login again. This will exit Abritus Business 2000. Now you can install the product to all computers where you intend to use Abritus Business 2000 and repeat the steps (2)-(7) in order to connect to the network-enabled database. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. What is the difference between Admin, User and Guest access levels? Admin users have full (unrestricted) access to the database. They are the only users which have the power to add and delete employees, as well as the right to clear passwords (in case some employee forgot his/her password and cannot enter the database). Employees with access level set to "User" have all rights of the Admin users, but they cannot add/delete user accounts. They may not edit any other employee's data except their own personal data. Guest users have read-only access to most parts of the database. They may not add, edit or delete any Clients, Contact persons, Employees or Events information. However, Guest users may still write and receive messages; they can also edit their personal data in the Employees form. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. How can I insert/edit a picture of an employee? To insert/edit a picture of an employee, you have to copy it into the clipboard and then paste the contents of the clipboard to the appropriate picture frame in the Employees form. For detailed instructions, please double click on any picture of an employee from the Employees form. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. What is the difference between Client ID and Client number? Client IDs are automatically assigned by the database; IDs are read-only and unique. Client numbers are user-assigned and they may not be unique. Some companies use their own, "internal" numbers when referring to the clients in their business correspondence and documentation. This is where the "Client number" field proves to be useful. For example, if you have 50 clients in US and two in Canada, it might be a good idea to assign them numbers like US00001, ..., US00050 (for the clients in US) and CA00001, CA00002 (for the clients in Canada, respectively). If your company does not use any "internal" numbers for its clients, simply leave this field blank. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. What for are the "|<" and ">|" buttons on the People Resources form? These buttons restrict the time interval selected by the user. The "|<" button represents strict restriction of the beginning of the interval. Respectively, the ">|" button represents strict restriction of the end of the time interval. When "|<" is pressed, the form displays all events which have been stared AFTER the date/time selected in the "From" field. If "|<" is not pressed, the events may have been started BEFORE this date/time as well. When ">|" is pressed, the form displays all events which have been finished BEFORE the date/time selected in the "To" field. If ">|" is not pressed, the events may have been finished AFTER this date/time as well. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 7. Is Abritus Business 2000 Y2K compliant? Yes. :)
