MicroGenius AntiTimer README file AntiTimer 1.34 R3 (Revision 3) (for revisions, see website) ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Contents: I. Welcome II. Installation III. How to use AntiTimer IV. Problems and where to get support I. Welcome ------------ Welcome to AntiTimer. If you aren't sure what AntiTimer is yet, let me expain. AntiTimer is a new program that helps you stay connected to America Online for as long as you'd like. Have you experienced those annoying idle messages from America Online? Surely you have. They either say, "You have been online for almost 5 minutes. Can we kick you off yet?" There is also a timer that merely tells you that you have been on for 45 minutes at a time. AntiTimer will "kill" these messages for you. That is, click them for you. So, you should be free to download all night long, without having to worry about being kicked off. II. Installation ----------------- AntiTimer now comes in an easy to use EXE file, that can also be used by advanced users in any zip/unzip program, such as Winzip. To install AntiTimer, find the file you downloaded on your hard drive. It should be called something like antitimer134rX.exe, where X is the revision. Opening that file will bring up a self extracting zip file. Unzip all files into any directory you want, and remember where that directory is. Then, goto that directory and run SETUP.EXE. This will lead you into the installation program, from where you can finish the installation. AntiTimer will make sure you have all required DLL files. It will also add a link to the program in your Start Menu, under Start/Programs. Simply click the link to begin using AntiTimer. III. Using AntiTimer -------------------- One positive feature of AntiTimer, I feel, is in its simpleness, and usefullness. Upon starting AntiTimer, you are presented with the ability to turn the program off, on (Always Active), or AntiTimer can also sign you off at a designated time (Stay Oline Until...). Simply choose which one you want by selecting a radio option. If you choose Stay Online Until, you will want to enter a time that you feel you should be signed off. You will of course want your download to finish, so be sure that you allow plenty of time for that. Also, note that AntiTimer sits in the Win9x system tray (in the lower right hand corner next to the clock). Right click on the icon to bring up a context menu. To hide AntiTimer TO the system tray, just click the Hide button. To see it again, left click once on the icon in the system tray. IV. Problems and where to get support -------------------------------------- Knowing that this program will not be incredibly popular will allow me to help all that need it. Before you report a problem, be sure you have signed up on the AntiTimer ListBot! This is where I will report all news, such as program updates. If you can't find a solution, then just contact me through e-mail. I check for email regularly, so a delay is uncommon. When emailing me, please be AS SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE. Tell me what the error is, what any error messages said, and ANYTHING and EVERYTHING else that might be significant. You would not believe the number of people who say, "Help! It's not working, what do I do?" That goes at the end of the email peoples! Who knows, if this program gets popular enough (hahaha right), then it is possible message boards may become necessary. Otherwise, just be sure to come to the AntiTimer website often to check for updates. Hopefully, in newer versions, I will add a feature that will automatically check for updates. See the bottom of this readme for contact info. V. (Secret Chapter) --------------------- So thank you for downloading my program. I know it will not make me famous or anything, but it is nice to be known, if you know what I mean. If you would like to contribute to my AntiTimer (and the like) programming funds, just send me an email and I'll let you know.
