 Minimum Requirements
 --------------------
 
 English Vocabulary Builder requires the following:
 
 -  IBM PC or compatible, 486 or higher processor
 -  Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher; Microsoft Windows 95 
 -  4MB RAM Windows 3.1 or higher; 8MB RAM Windows 95
 -  At least 1.5MB of hard disk space
 -  256-color support
 -  Preferable: sound card and speakers

 Installation
 ------------

 1.  Only applies if the program is in compressed form i.e. the program
     is contained in one file with the extension ZIP.

     To install the English Vocabulary Builder (after downloading the
     software) to your PC, you will first need to decompress the ZIP file
     with PKWARE's PKUNZIP.
 
 2.  In Windows 95:
      a) Click on Start/Run 
      b) Type A:\SETUP.EXE

     In Windows 3.x: 
      a) Click on File/Run in Program Manager 
      b) Type A:\SETUP.EXE
 
 3.  A directory called \BUILDER will be created in your hard disk.
     Click on 'Continue' if you wish to install the program. 
 
 4.  A Program Icon will be created from which to start the application
     on satisfactory completion of Setup.
 
 5.  A Help File Icon will be created to assist you, should you need
     further explanation.

 ABOUT Version 1.0 & Version 2.0
 -------------------------------

 Version 1.0 is free for evaluation.
 
 Version 2.0 may be ordered from the 'Public (software) Library' and
 requires a key or password to enter it.
 
 Both teach interactively advanced English vocabulary suitable for the
 GRE or SAT1 verbal examinations or for anyone serious about improving 
 and maintaining an advanced level of English vocabulary. 

 Version 1.0 contains a modest word list to illustrate the program.
 
 Version 2.0 contains a much more extensive dictionary of words, synonyms, 
 sentences, antonyms and text quotes.
 
 Four subjects are used to teach you interactively the advanced English 
 vocabulary:

    Find the Synonym
     select the synonym or meaning closest to the word(s) or clause(s)  

    Complete the Sentence
     select the word that best completes the sentence

    Find the Antonym
     select the antonym or opposite meaning to the word(s) or clause(s)

    Complete the Text
     select the word that best completes the selection of writing


 You are given the choice of five words - randomly selected - from
 which to answer a question. The randomly selected word combinations
 make English Vocabulary Builder a much more useful learning tool, 
 since repeated combinations are unlikely to arise.

 You have the option to choose the number of questions for a session 
 and to select the number of extra attempts at answering a question
 - should you make a mistake! Additionally, a question may be skipped.

 The tests scores are displayed graphically according to last score, 
 mean score and high score. In Version 1.0 test scores are not stored 
 permanently whereas in Version 2.0 test scores are stored for future 
 analysis.

 The complete dictionary of words may be viewed at any time in the 
 'Dictionary' section. The test scores may also be viewed at any time in 
 the 'Test Scores' section.

 However, leaving a test before completion will result in the test being
 abandoned.
