=============================================================================== "Amber's Learning Adventure" - DOS Version 1.2 1996 Alicia L Wilson =============================================================================== H E L P . T X T =============================================================================== This file contains miscellaneous technical notes and tips. =============================================================================== Distribution: - This demo is SHAREWARE. It may be freely copied and distributed as long as all files are included in their entirety and are not altered in any way. When you order a customized version, you may alter any of the files such as re-recording the voice or modifying the mazes. On the demo version, this will prevent the program from executing. =============================================================================== Requirements: - The only system requirements are an IBM compatible PC with an EGA or better graphics adaptor and MS-DOS Version 3.0 or latter. - Voice files are supported on "Sound Blaster" (copyright of Creative Labs, Inc.) systems that include the utility program VPLAY.EXE. For fastest execution with voice, copy all the files in this package to a directory on your hard drive. - For full mouse support in the Draw game, you must have a MS-DOS compatible mouse driver loaded. In addition, the game must be launched from the native DOS command line -- not from Windows. - Beginning with DOS Version 1.1, songs will be played on your sound system if "Sound Blaster" compatible hardware is detected. Otherwise, songs will be played on your PC speaker. =============================================================================== Save Files: - Save files from the "Mouse Draw" game utilize the format "SAVExA.GRH" and "SAVExB.GRH", where "x" = 0 to 9. To save one drawing requires approximately 100,000 bytes (50,000 bytes per "A" and "B" file). This will quickly exceed the free space available on a floppy diskette. For this reason (and faster access), I recommend copying all the files in this package to a directory on your hard drive. The save files may be manually deleted using MS-DOS commands without affecting the program. =============================================================================== Maze Runner: - Use the keyboard arrow keys to navigate the mazes. If your keyboard does not have arrow keys, use the following numbers for navigation: '2' - Down '4' - Left '6' - Right '8' - Up - The outlines used by the "Maze Runner" game are stored in files 0.MAZ to 9.MAZ. Note: All of these files may not be present. To modify an existing maze file or create a new maze file, utilize an ASCII text editor and follow the pattern in 0.MAZ. The title may be up to 20 characters long. All other lines should be 80 characters long. Creating or modifying a MAZ file will NOT cause a file integrity error. You will be able to use the Learning Adventure game to test your mazes. Submit your best maze file for possible inclusion in future versions of "Amber's Learning Adventure". If yours is utilized, you will receive a free customized version of the Learning Adventure game, credit in the maze title, and $5 cold hard cash! ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ =============================================================================== Command Line Switch: - To start the program with Sound Blaster and Music turned off, simply enter: "LEARN N" on your MS-DOS command line when invoking the program. To change the sound configuration from within the program, enter "S" on the main menu screen and respond "Y" or "N" to the options presented. =============================================================================== Please direct any correspondance (comments, suggestions, etc...) to: Alicia L Wilson 15903 W. 150th Street Olathe, KS 66062 or E-Mail to: AliciaLou@aol.com ===============================================================================
