Thanks for looking at ECPAGE, Version 3.17C * * QUICK START: ----------- To install the program just copy the main archive file, ECPARC.ZIP into a \ECPAGE directory and use PKUNZIP to unzip. See the file INSTALL.TXT for further help, if needed. After extracting the files in \ECPAGE type: MANUAL LJ3 to print out complete program documentation on a PCL5 LaserJet, or MANUAL on any other printer. Start the program with: EPAGE While running ECPAGE, press F1 for the HELP screens. * * REQUIREMENTS: ------------- ECPage is a SHAREWARE DOS PCL forms designer. It will run on any IBM PC (XT to a 486 or better). A 386-33 or higher is suggested for best program speed. Color monitor (VGA) is suggested, but not required. Mouse is not needed. Users machine should have at least 500K free RAM for running ECPAGE, and diskspace of 5MB for installing program and data files. As ECPAGE is a PCL utility, it requires (for printing) a Hewlett Packard LaserJet series 3 to 5 PCL5/5E printer. PCL5 clones also work. Very limited support is available for users with a HP LJ IIP/D with a font cartridge. InkJets, etc. are NOT supported. DOS 3.3 or higher suggested. May be run as a DOS program in Windows or OS/2. * * WHAT IS ECPAGE? -------------- ECPage is s DOS PCL Forms designer. With ECPage you layout designs by placing elements at desired positions, either in Row & Col, Inches or metric CM units. ECPage uses the internal scalable proportional PCL fonts that are in the HP LaserJet series 3 to 5, scaled as needed from 1 to 99 points. PCL lines and boxes are also available and can be scaled to size as needed. The boxes may be shaded for a '3D' effect if desired. All boxes may be filled with various percentages of grayscale or HP defined patterns. Design elements may overlap each other for complex designs. ECPage can print to paper or diskfile. Diskfiles are pure PCL code in ASCII format. They may be copied to any supported printer and printed. They may also be created in 'ready-to-use' LaserJet MACRO overlay format. The PCL diskfiles are relatively small (depending on size of design) so they may be loaded quickly onto any supported PCL5 (LJ 3 to 5 and clones). This can permit a collection of form designs to be stored on disk and quickly printedout as needed. These diskfiles may be created in a LaserJet Macro overlay format as well. As no track characters or fixed pitch fonts are used, the PCL output is 'Near Typeset' in quality. A graphic also be merged into the design. NOTE: Fixed pitch, TrueType and Postscript fonts are NOT supported in ECPAGE, only the PCL 'Intellifonts' are used (Univers, Garamond, CG Times, etc.) * * REGISTRATION: ------------- ECPAGE is a 'Shareware' program, you are permitted to try it out before you buy it. If it is not what you desire, just erase it from your system. However, if you do use it beyond a trial period of 30 days, you are expected to register and pay for it. ECPAGE is 'Shareware', it is not 'Freeware' nor in the public domain. The file, REGISTER.DOC, which will extract when you unzip ECPARC, contains further registration information. Low cost site and multiple copy licenses are available. Single user license is $25 US. This version is completely functional, it is not time limited. However, added font support is available in the registered version; this shareware version is limited to medium typefaces of the fonts in your LJ3 or higher. Support for BOLD, BOLD-ITALIC and ITALIC is contained in the registered version. * * DISTRIBUTION: ------------ Users and vendors may generally freely distribute this shareware version if it is distributed complete and unaltered. (The registered version may not be further distributed without written permission from the author.) See LICENSE.TXT for complete terms. Any distribution which does not make clear to users that this is shareware, with registration fees due to the author is expressly prohibited.
