Teledex for Windows by Data-Labs Copyright 1995-1996 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED Read me - Important Many systems have problems with SHARE.EXE. In some cases, Teledex for Windows will not run, even when share.exe is loaded in the autoexec.bat file. Share is used for file locking and must be present in order for Teledex with it's MS ACCESS engine to run even in a single user configuration. VSHARE.386 -- A BETTER WAY... Instead of running share.exe from the DOS prompt or at boot- up by listing it in your Autoexec.bat, a better way is to use a file we have supplied called VSHARE.386. This must be placed in the WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory. For it to run, a line must be edited into the System.INI file with a text editor such as DOS EDIT or Windows Notepad. In the 386ENH section of the System.INI, add the following line: DEVICE = VSHARE.386 Note, even though VSHARE.386 must be located in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, System.INI is located in the C:\WINDOWS directory. When using VSHARE.386, DO NOT USE SHARE.EXE. ie. Take any line with SHARE in it out of the AUTOEXEC.BAT FILE. AUTOEXEC.BAT is located in the ROOT directory. To edit autoexec.bat using DOS EDIT, go to the C:> prompt and type EDIT AUTOEXEC.BAT. After removing the line with share in it, click on FILE menu, then click on SAVE. Then EXIT. To edit the System.ini file from the C:> prompt, type CD\WINDOWS. (Be sure to use backslashes) This will yield the C:\WINDOWS prompt. At this prompt type EDIT SYSTEM.INI Add the line to the 386 Enh section - DEVICE = VSHARE.386 Be sure the VSHARE.386 file is located in the c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. If it is in the newly created Teledex directory, copy it to the c:\windows\system directory.
